Hello, all! You might have noticed that I’ve had to redirect my attention for a bit of time away from the Monday Makes. I’ve missed you! I’m back now and so excited to share a bit about what has captured my time and attention. One thing I’ve been working on is this Laid-Back Luxe Pearl & Leather Bracelet.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been creating jewelry to be presented in a few segments for the television show, Beads, Baubles & Jewels! I taped three segments for this informative show about beading, jewelry design, and metalwork that airs at various times on your local PBS station. To find out when you can see it, check your local listings.
My first segment was all about pearls, those classics in jewelry design that we all know and love. You can find Halcraft’s freshwater and acrylic pearls at Michaels in the Bead Gallery aisle.
My challenge for this segment was to create a piece that uses pearls in a new way, one that is fashion forward and different from the classic knotted pearl necklace. I love to work with leather, so it was natural that I use some leather even with the classic pearl, as a way to up the “coolness” factor and make it more casual. I love the way the smooth luminescent nacre of the pearls are the perfect contrast to the dense, supple deerskin lace.
Here’s what you need to make the Laid-back Luxe Pearl & Leather Bracelet for yourself!
