Can you say YUM?
The softly melting ice cream on the gray marble slab, the dark pebbly blackberries, the ribbons of deliciously rich and subtle sugary sweetness, the gleam of the silver forks ready to dig in… this palette for September reminds me that the last of the ice cream truck days are here and makes me think of snuggly angora shawls for the coming cooler days.
I found out that this picture is actually from a blog called Camille Styles and the recipe is for a Summer Berry Ice Cream Cake. The three flavors of ice cream from an ice cream shop called Lick are called Strawberry Basil, Coconut & Avocado Curd, and Blackberry, Lime & Basil. Oh boy! Even the names are yummy!
This luscious palette is taken from a blog called Fresh Hues by Jessica Colaluca of Design Seeds fame. I love the way that she swipes the colors in the palette like paint on a canvas and chooses some really dynamic images for her inspiration. She is also my favorite color palette go-to-guru.
My Pretty Palettes partner for September is Stephanie La Rosa. Stephanie is a gifted designer who has been published in magazines and has her own Etsy shop. She has an eye for color combinations that feel lively and fresh with a bit of a nod to retro palettes. She also was someone who submitted a design for a previous Pretty Palettes challenge which is what enticed me to delve deeper into her world. I am delighted that Miss Stephanie will be joining me this month.
Here are the beads that I sent to Miss Stephanie for the two of us to work with for September:
96552 – Rhinestone bling balls gunmetal 14mm
93981 – White glass oval baroque pearl 14mm
91295 – Silver plated large round filigree beads
99001 – Amethyst luster glass rounds 8mm
94782 – Pink Czech faceted 6mm
97128 – Amethyst Grey matte faceted glass rondelle
92526 – Amethyst iris bicone 6mm
If you would like to play along, you can get all these beads at your local Michaels in the Bead Gallery line, or use what you have on hand. They do not need to be the same ones I selected, just referencing the color palette inspiration. Feel free to substitute for beads that you like!
I am looking for a partner for October, November and December and it might just be you! If you are interested in playing along, select some beads to match the palette, create something, blog about it and join Stephanie and I here on September 24th for the reveal!
