Pretty Palettes :: October Inspiration

The nip in the air…the return of snuggly sweaters…and even socks…mulled wine…spiced cider…football tailgates…carving pumpkins…mounds of mums…leafy patchworks…the smell of wood burning fire… there is not much that I don’t like about autumn! (Except that it is so short!) So I thought that this month we should pay homage to the beauty that surrounds us, no matter where we may be.

I always love to see what is going on at Design Seeds. Everyday a new color palette to tickle my fancy. But this one, with the rich russet, the cashmere grey and the earthy neutrals (not to mention the pretty leaves!) intrigued me and screamed fall to me.

All beads found at Michaels… and they were on sale! Hurry in!

I had a lot of fun selecting the beads for this palette, although it was not an easy choice. I actually had three different bead palettes in mind for this in my cart, but the one strand that I kept coming back to was the twisted Czech glass rectangles with the melange of wine and red with touches of green swirling through them. I love them! The rest of the palette sort of came from that strand.

For the grey, I chose silver dottie spacers and some small shell coins. I always think of metals as a color….

For the purple, I had to stick with the interesting shape and colors of the Czech glass twist rectangles. I just couldn’t put them down!

For the brick red, I selected two different rounds, two sizes. Partly, because I am indecisive…and I like options!

For the russet orange, I found these cherry quartz that lend a softness to the palette.

For the beige, I went with the iris luster hematite square spacers. Hard to tell in this picture, but the rich gold sheen is perfect for fall plus this adds in another shape!

My partner for this  month is Lynda Carson of Fresh Baked Designs.

Her designs are classic without being stuffy, filled with colorful gemstones and wonderful pattern. They speak to her California living with an easy-breezy vibe. Please help me welcome Miss Lynda! I look forward to seeing what she does with this month’s inspiration!

And YOU! I hope that you will join in on this fall fiesta and play along with the Pretty Palettes challenge for October! See you for the reveal on October 28th!
