Pretty Palettes :: June Inspiration
The sunny days of summer have arrived! I love that the days are longer and the sun sets later in the evening. Of course, after June 21st it all starts to creep the other way, so I say grab the sunshine while you can!
The June inspiration palette feels like a vacation to me, because no house where I live looks like this! You know the place, where the buildings are painted in a hodge-podge of bright crayon colors baked in the sun. This picture from Design Seeds of a weathered wall and shutters is so intriguing to me. I can practically smell the salt air and feel the warm caress of the swirling sandy breeze upon me (sounds like someone needs a vacation! ;-)
My June Palette Partner is Kelly Morgan of Silver Parrot Designs. I have always admired Kelly’s use of color and her fun and fresh fun design sense. I thought this would be the perfect color palette for my beach-loving bead friend. Another thing I love is she does a semi-regular post on her blog of Bead Porn where she shows off her recent bead acquisitions. Serious eye candy, y’all! Check it out!
These are the beads that I selected for us to work with for June. I picked out the small rounds in bright variegated orange tones, the soft sea-glass green stones, tiny faceted frosty blue bicones, large faceted green stone rounds (don’t you just love that one in the middle with the rhinestones set in it!?), silver saucer spacers and the millefiori glass tablets with the swirls of foil inside. I love those millefiori the most! I sent Kelly the same set and I hear that she was immediately inspired to get started! Come back on June 25th for the Pretty Palettes Reveal!
Would you like to play along with the Pretty Palettes, too? We are looking for Pretty Palettes Partners, one per month, to receive a set of beads to create with. A great way to catch my attention is to show me what you create! Go to your local Michaels (or Joann’s, or AC Moore) and find the Halcraft beads tagged Bead Gallery. I love that the bead aisle in my Michaels is organized by color. Pick your favorite beads to go with the Pretty Palette (they don’t need to be the same ones I selected), make some jewelry or accessories or home decor with them, then come back on June 25th and show us what you made with the InLinkz link-up tool. I am looking for new Pretty Palettes Partners for the fall…and you could be next!
