Pretty Palettes :: June Inspiration

I am in desperate need of a vacation.

In the middle of this month I will be flying smack dab into the center of the Happiest Place on Earth chaperoning 12 teenage dancers as guest artists as a local studio’s end of the year show. So while it might sound like it will be all fun and games, it will likely be a lot of work. I suspect that I might need a vacation after this vacation!

I haven’t been to the beach in more years than I can count. I really would love to just getaway someplace warm and sunny with sand beneath my toes. The blue of the sky meeting the blue of the water in a way that suggests no end and no beginning. The soothing rhythmic sound of the waves crashing on the shore. The colors of the sea were calling to me at Michaels this month. I hope you all don’t mind a detour to the beach!

Have you ever heard of the website Unsplash? I discovered it this spring and it is chock-full of photography that is FREE to use. That’s right. FREE.

You are actually encouraged to use them on your website, remix them into an art piece, post them to your blog. I find the collections that members curate especially endearing. And the pictures themselves are outstanding in their subject matter, composition, lighting. They seem like mysterious artifacts that need to have a story told about them. And I believe that good jewelry tells a story as well.

Here are the beads that I chose for June to reflect the ocean color palette:

    Gorgeous selections Miss Erin! I’ll have to see if I can squeeze some funds out of the budget to play along…I could use a vacation too but this Pretty Palette will be as close as I get for now…lol!

  2. Thanks for the UnSplash tip. I love the faceted beads – the color of the ocean in your second photo is my favorite color – and it is so hard to find. The faceted beads come awfully close.

  3. Heading for a little beach vacation today! I was at the ocean this last weekend, but I can never get enough. Love the ocean/water palette; it’s one of my favorites.

  4. Amazing. Reminds me of my childhood playing in Waikiki beach. Also thanks so much for the tip on free to use pictures. Such a find.

    I especially love the faceted glass ones. They can really change color depending on what you are wearing. I love the beach palette.

    Love the beach.

    This beach palette is beautiful – reminds me of lazy, summer days at the lake. Cool blues for the cool water & cloudless skies. Wonderful choices.
