If this is your first Pretty Palette, let me take a moment to explain. On the first Wednesday of each month I use an image to create a color palette. Then I choose coordinating beads from the Bead Gallery line available at Michaels so we can all play along with the same beads to create a beading project. If you want to create your own project using your own beads and art beads, that’s fine as well. The more beads, the merrier, is what I say!
On the final Wednesday of the month is the reveal. Visit the Halcraft blog to see what I’ve made and use the link-up at the end of the blog post to add images of your own project to our collection of Pretty Palette projects.
I went in search of a Pretty Palette for the June 2017 inspiration photo. I went on walks, I had my camera out at the store and at the pool, but I wasn’t able to find that perfect image. So much of what I saw and photographed was green! I like green, but I’d had enough green on my bead table during the month of May to last the next few months.
As often happens, the inspiration jumped out at me when I least expected it! I recently made a trip to the local public library (big shout out to the Muncie Kennedy branch library!). The kids and I love the summer reading program and were there signing up. While I was browsing the new release craft section, I saw David Butler’s cool-looking book, Parson Gray: Trade Quilts. I’ve always admired quilt making and was intrigued by the modern, graphic quilt on the cover. Did you know David Butler is married to Amy Butler of fabric and design fame? When walking out of the library, I looked down at the book with my sunglasses case and binder and totally fell for the color combo and the patterns.
I love the way the large silver saucers mirror the patterns on my glasses case and the quilt book.
Here’s a list for you:
See you again at the end of the month on Wednesday, June 28th, for the reveal! Thank you for playing along with me!
