Happy New Year!
I hope you are ready for some creative adventures in 2014. I know that I am!
This month I have chosen a palette inspired by a young lady that I know. She is a dancer at my daughter’s dance school and she is attending a wedding. She has a dress that is the perfect transition for winter to spring and asked for my help to accessorize it.
This year the Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid. I see that color in the flowers sprinkled across this silky fabric. I also see deeper shades of navy, plum, and bright blue. The ground of gold sets off each petal and the white adds an air of sweetness to this floral.
Here are the beads I picked up at Michaels to go with this palette.
Fluted gold plated lantern beads, clear cut crystal with a band of AB finish for flash, large faceted rondelles in a golden shade with a deep plum finish, big hole beads in an amber glass with hints of purple, acrylic bling beads in orchid and some textured gold chain. I like the different textures that each one has and how they all reference the purples and golds of the palette.
And here is a picture of the dress.
Isn’t that sweet?
I don’t know where you are, but it is co-o-o-o-ld here! I am so over winter and thinking of flowers and bright sunny skies and lovely young ladies in pretty dresses at a wedding makes it all a bit more bearable. So this month I am going to use this fabric and dress as my inspiration for January.
Come back at the end of the month to see what I created. And if you need a dose of inspiration, please consider using this palette to make something, too! We would love to see it.
Bead Gallery is 50% off at Michaels this week so now is a great time get a jump on spring!
